THE NEW 48 HOUR NON STOP WORLD RECORD BOXATHON Spectators welcome!
A 48-hour non-stop world record Boxathon will be held at the Vulcan Arena from 2.00pm on Friday 31st October, to 2.00pm on Sunday 2nd November 2003, to raise money for special needs.
This event will allow all amateur boxing clubs and sports teams to raise money for their clubs, and many ex-boxers, fitness clubs and enthusiasts are raising money for the ex-Featherweight World Champion Paul Ingle.
In December 2000 Paul Ingle suffered a blood clot to the brain, defending his World Title. In a major operation to remove his blood clot, Paul Ingle came through the biggest test of his life and has gone through rehabilitation to regain his health.
Paul Ingle is in preparation to make a come back, taking part in setting the New World Record. This event will raise money for the Paul Ingle Fund, supporting a young man who brought great excitement into British Boxing and Hull, and has been an inspiration to many young boxers and people today.
Over 500 people are taking part, with Paul Ingle kicking off the event, partnering Chris Hopper, a pro-boxer from Scarborough.
The amateur clubs involved will be raising money for their own clubs, with some rugby clubs also participating, and over 35 teams will be raising money to support Paul Ingle.
