Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic In addition to developing new in-house physiotherapy capacity for the benefit of Hull City players, club physiotherapist Simon Maltby is at the centre of the newly launched range of services that’s open for the general public.
The ‘Tigers Treatment Room’ offers appointments for everyone who wants to access the same state-of-the-art facilities and expertise as available to the professionals at the club.
Simon, who has experience at senior level in hospitals and is fresh from an FA post at Lilleshall, also holds a degree in Physiotherapy. He is available with other highly qualified and experienced members of his staff between 5pm-9pm on weekdays at The Kingston Communications Stadium.
The physiotherapy team will carry out initial assessments, treatment, and rehabilitation - not only a vast array of sports injuries, but also a wide range of general musculoskeletal problems.
Firstly, the physiotherapy team will carry out initial assessments from which they will be able to recommend an appropriate treatment for an extensive range of musculo-skeletal conditions including:
- all sports injuries
- back and neck pain
- whiplash injuries
- joint pain
- soft tissue - muscle, tendon and ligament injuries
- work-related disorders
- postural problems
- growth related problems
- pre and post operative rehabilitation
As The Tigers Treatment Room is the very same facility used by the club’s professionals, it includes electric beds, electrotherapy equipment and a range of other rehabilitation equipment.
Treatments After the initial consultation the team can determine the nature of the problem and then recommend an appropriate corrective treatment plan. The range of treatments available are as follows:
- mobilisation and manipulation of joints
- acupuncture
- electrotherapy (including ultrasound, TENS and interferential)
- soft tissue techniques
- taping and strappings
- posture re-education
- progressive rehabilitation following surgery and injury
- exercise programmes designed for specific sports
- advice and education on self-help and injury management
- sports nutrition advice
- massage
