Founded in September 2002, Kingston upon Hull Hockey Club was formed from an amalgamation of three well-established clubs - Hull (Welton) Men, Welton Ladies, and YPI Ladies, Men's and Mixed.
The ladies club has 5 senior teams and a veterans team (over 35’s). In 2003/04, the 1st XI were promoted from the North East Feeder league into North Division 1. They also won the Humberside Challenge Cup, and represented the county at the North Clubs Championships. The remaining 4 teams play in Divisions 1 to 3 of the Humberside League.
The men's club has 6 senior teams playing in leagues from North Div 1 to Yorkshire Div 11, an indoor squad in the National league and a veterans team (over 40’s), who won the Yorkshire Championship in 2004. The men are coached by England International Kevin Stamp.
The junior section has 6 teams playing in the Yorkshire Youth League – under 14 and under 16 boys, under 12, under 14 and 2 under 16 girls teams. The under 14 girls were Yorkshire Youth League winners in 2004 and also won “Top Team of the Year” in the 2004 Hull Young Person’s Sports Awards.
There are also under 18 and under 19 indoor and outdoor teams for both boys and girls. The Under 18 boys are currently North Indoor Champions and the Under 19 boys are Yorkshire Cup Champions. The under 19 girls are Humberside Champions and the Under 18 girls were National Indoor Finalists in 2004.
There are also 2 mixed teams playing in the Humberside league.
