Disabled Users' Group

A non-profit making supporters group has been set up for disabled supporters and carers of both Hull City AFC and Hull FC.

The Kingston Communications Stadium Disabled Users' Group aims to work closely with all interested parties and partners in order to maintain acceptable ongoing facilities for disabled users of the new Community Stadium.

The Group also aims to establish and maintain a channel of meaningful dialogue with the Management of the Stadium and regularly feed back information to its members.

Excerpt from an article that appeared in the Hull Daily Mail, Monday, 25th November 2002
"The city's community sports stadium will hold 25,404 supporters - almost as many as Boothferry Park and the Boulevard combined.

As well as the standard supporters' seats, the stadium will cater for 1,100 corporate visitors. But designers have also taken into account disabled fans, fitting in 174 wheelchair spaces, 60 pitch-side and 114 elevated positions. There are also 192 seats for people with walking difficulties.

Designers worked hand-in-hand with the Kingston Communications Stadium Disabled Users' Group to ensure the venue catered for all supporters. Group secretary Allan Chilton said such facilities were "very important". "Without them, disabled people wouldn't be able to attend matches. And it's really important that the stadium has been built with input from disabled people. There are lifts in the stadium which will make it easier for our members to get to their positions for the match."

Adam Pearson, Hull City and Stadium Management Company Chairman, said "In my view they are the best disabled facilties of any stadium in the country. The stadium is there for all aspects of the community, general supporters, disabled supporters, corporate supporters. We think we have the right balance."
