The Kingston Communications Stadium has been short-listed as one of the possible regionalised venues to stage the football element of the 2012 Olympic Games.
The committee behind the bid to bring the games to Britain invited the Stadium Management Company to make an application.
Now, along with several other major stadiums up and down the country, the Kingston Communications Stadium is being looked at as a possible venue for 2012.
Adam Pearson, who is the head of the Stadium Management Company, is delighted that the KC is being considered and said:
"It's great for the City of Hull that the stadium is on the short-list and we'll be working extremely hard in putting our case forward.
"Obviously 2012 is a long way off but the Olympic Games is the type of event that we are looking to bring to the Kingston Communications Stadium.
"The Olympic Committee want to stage some of the football element outside of London and we feel that there's no reason why they shouldn't choose Hull as one of them.
"The stadium a fabulous community facility and attracting major events to it will help to put the city on the map."
