Top cricketers Richie Richardson and Mark Waugh will be on show at the Kingston Communications Stadium, Hull, on Sunday 13th July, with the pair confirmed as starters in the International XI side that will play Yorkshire CCC as part of Steve Oldham’s Benefit Year.
Both Richardson and Waugh are part of the world-renowned Lashings Club, which is to provide the International XI from their pool of contracted players.
They are the first two big names on the team sheet and it’s expected that more will be added during the coming weeks as the build-up to the fixture begins to gather pace.
Former West Indies star Richardson is the Lashings club captain and one of the most celebrated players in the game having skippered his country 24 times at Test level.
The ‘Wisden Cricketer of the Year’ in 1992, he also collected 86 Test and 224 one day caps during a glittering career which saw him amass more than 12,000 runs.
Mark Waugh enjoyed a similarly impressive career with Australia and played in 128 Tests and 244 One Day Internationals. During that time he notched over 16,000 runs and was also pretty handy with the ball, taking 144 wickets in international cricket.
Both are certain to be a major attraction in the 20/20 game that is being staged at the KC Stadium on Sunday 13th July (2.30pm start).
