The Kingston Communications Stadium, Hull, will have a Caribbean feel to it on Sunday 13th July when Yorkshire CCC take on an International XI as part of Steve Oldham’s Benefit Year.
The Lashings Cricket Club - who are to provide the International side - have named West Indian trio Jimmy Adams, Junior Murray and Sherwin Campbell as part of the squad for the game, which gets underway at 2.30pm.
All three have starred for the West Indies at the highest level and could be playing alongside Richie Richardson and Mark Waugh, both of whom have been confirmed as starters for the International XI.
Jimmy Adams skippered the ‘Windies’ 15 times and picked up 54 Test caps in a nine-year stint at that level, while he also played in 127 One Day Internationals.
Thirty-two year-old Sherwin Campbell was also a regular in the West Indies Test team from the mid 1990s onwards and collected 52 caps. A talented batsman, he scored in excess of 2800 runs during his Test career and added another 2287 in 90 One Day International appearances.
Wicket keeper/batsman Junior Murray completes the trio and is nicknamed ‘Mr Cool As Ice’. He won 33 Test and 55 One Day International caps with the West Indies.
Lashings will be unveiling more star names over the next week or so as the build-up to the clash begins to gather momentum.
It promises to be a great day out not only for cricket followers but also for sports supporters in general who wish to see some top cricketing talent in action.
Tickets, which are priced at £10 adults and £5 concessions, are currently on sale at the KC Stadium ticket office.
The public are welcome to either purchase in person or over the phone.
