Fame Academy winner David Sneddon has been confirmed as one of three support acts that will play ahead of Elton John at the Kingston Communications Stadium, Hull, on Saturday 19th July 2003.
His forthcoming appearance at the KC Stadium is another major coup for the city of Hull and adds to the general feelgood factor surrounding the event.
The 24 year-old Glaswegian captured the hearts of a nationwide television audience with his performances on the smash-hit reality show last year. It was a classic ‘rags-to-riches’ story as he failed to make it into the
Fame Academy at the first attempt and was then drafted in as a late replacement.
From there he kicked on and wowed both the judges and the voting public who eventually crowned him as the winner ahead of Sinead Quinn.
Of the 6.9 million votes cast on the final night, David took 3.5 million and brought the curtain down on the show by performing his self-written number ‘Stop Living The Lie.’
Amazingly Mercury Records were so taken by David’s talent that they were prepared to offer him a £1m record deal irrespective of whether or not he came out on top in the Academy. But he didn’t need the offer as his victory automatically gave him the chance to release ‘Stop Living The Lie’ and it went straight in at number
one in January of this year.
David followed that success up with the release of a second single ‘Don’t Let Go’ which also hit the top three in the charts and soon after came his debut album ‘Seven Years Ten Weeks’. That charted at number five and David’s success story has rolled on from there.
Doors at the KC Stadium open at 4:00pm and the first of the three planned support acts are expected to start entertaining the audience from around 4:15pm (subject to alteration).
Tickets are still available priced from £35 and these can be obtained by calling the dedicated ticket order line . Alternatively call the KC Stadium ticket office, personal callers welcome.
