Elton ticket sales hit 20,000

Tickets sales for Elton John's Solo concert at the Kingston Communications Stadium, Hull, on Saturday 19th July 2003, have smashed through the 20,000 mark and organisers believe they are now on target to reach full capacity for the event.

Sir Elton is one of the world's biggest stars and his American tour with Billy Joel has just been named as the top grossing concert tour in the US this year, beating the likes of the Rolling Stones, Celine Dion and Bon Jovi.

As Elton mania sweeps the City, the Stadium's ticket office has been inundated with calls from music fans eager to witness this landmark concert for the City of Hull, which takes place in 8 days time.

Adam Pearson, Chairman of the Stadium Management Company, said.  "It has always been our aim to fill the Stadium for this concert and I am very pleased with the response so far.

"Although we still have 3,000 tickets to sell, I am confident that we will reach our target.

"Tickets are available from £35 and I would urge fans to contact the ticket office as soon as possible to make sure they don't miss out on this fantastic event."

Added interest in the event has been created by the announcement that Fame Academy winner David Sneddon will be performing ahead of Elton, along with fellow support artists Declan Galbraith, and Krishna.

Eleven year-old singing sensation Declan is a major new talent with a multi-million pound recording contract with EMI/Virgin, who were just one of the many major record companies bidding to sign him.  His self-titled solo album was released to great acclaim last year, and features cover versions such as John Lennon's 'Imagine' and Robbie William's 'Angels.'

Krishna will be making his debut UK performance, along with his band and backing vocalist.   An American Cherokee Indian, Krishna's music is described as modern rock - with an edge!

Doors for the show open at 4.00pm, with the first of three support acts due on at 4.15pm, and Elton due to take centre stage from 7.30pm.

Tickets for the show can still be purchased by calling , or in person from the KC Stadium ticket office, priced from £35.

A lavish commemorative programme dedicated to Elton's Hull concert will be available to purchase from official sellers both inside and outside the Stadium priced £10.

Licensed bars and refreshment facilities will be available inside the stadium throughout the concert whilst the Vulcan Arena, on Walton Street, will be open to all concert goers for pre-show drinks from 3.00pm.

A hospitality package is still available in the Vulcan Arena for £25 per head, which includes buffet, a concert programme and car parking.  For details.
