Over 24,000 delighted fans left the KC Stadium last night after experiencing an amazing night at Foxy & Tom’s Big Bash - one of the biggest musical events ever to be held in the City of Hull.
The concert was headlined by Irish sensations Westlife who served up almost an hour of their finest hits including previously unheard material from their forthcoming album.
Event promoters 96.9 Viking FM had gathered a galaxy of stars to perform and the evening was opened by trance act Ultrabeat who performed their smash hit Pretty Green Eyes.
For the first time since the end of ITV series Popstars: The Rivals, all ten female finalists from the show performed on the same bill with Clea the first to grace the stage performing their debut single Download It.
Solo artist Javine wowed the audience with her top 10 smash Real Things and Girls Aloud performed a sexy set which included their number one, Sound of the Underground.
Other crowd pleasers included boyband Triple 8 and Glaswegian newcomers Speedway, who belted out a rock version of Christina Aguilera's Genie in a Bottle.
Stunning solo artist Louise and former Steps favourite Lisa Scott-Lee took to the stage ahead of former Take That singer Mark Owen, who had everyone rocking along to his latest hit Four Minute Warning.
At the mere mention of Westlife’s name, the crowd were whipped into a wild frenzy and after an atmospheric build-up, the chart topping group appeared on the stage to a combination of cheers and screams which raised the roof of the KC Stadium and could be heard for miles around.
Westlife opened at a pace with When You're Looking Like That, followed by two of their mellower tracks Tonight and Flying Without Wings. The band then chilled out with an acoustic set, which included Bop Bop Baby and To Be With You.
Fool Again, On My Shoulder, World Of Our Own and What Makes a Man followed and then the band, who have clocked up a record 11 number one hits, brought the Big Bash to a close with a preview of their new single Hey Whatever.
After almost 4 hours of top class entertainment, the smiling masses made their way home very happy indeed.
