Despite Great Britain losing out on the Think! Road Safety Ashes Test series against Australia, the Rugby Football League (RFL) had cause to celebrate with record sell-out crowds attracted to each of the three Test venues.
The crowd of 25,147 was the highest seen yet at the KC, and the RFL had high praise for the Stadium. “Hull’s KC Stadium is now firmly within the Rugby league’s thinking for future international and major club fixtures following their successful staging of the second Think! Road Safety Test against Australia.”
Richard Lewis, the RFL’s Executive Chairman, added. “The KC Stadium proved an impressive setting for the second Test, and its success makes yet another option available when we come to consider where we are going to place our leading club and international fixtures in the future.
“Certainly the support provided by the fans and the Stadium authorities justified our decision to take such an important fixture to the KC Stadium.
“Top class Rugby League deserves the best possible stage and having seen the way the KC Stadium staged the match, it is clear that they have given us another major option.”
