The Prince of Wales will attend a black-tie dinner for 300 people at the Kingston Communications Stadium, in aid of his charity, The Prince’s Trust, on 22nd January 2004.
The Prince will become the second royal visitor to the stadium following in the footsteps of the Duke of Gloucester who toured the facility back in April 2003.
Letters have already been sent to about 800 businesses in the Yorkshire and Humber region, inviting them to book tables for 10 for the dinner at a cost of £2,500. Individual tickets are also available for £250.
Big donors will be invited as guests of the Trust and may be introduced to the Prince, who will speak at the dinner.
Lynne Hope, who is on the Trust's Humber board, said the Prince's visit was fantastic news. She said. "We are thrilled because the money raised will help us help more young people in our region.”
The trust works in schools, helps young people set up businesses and runs group courses to build youngsters' confidence. It also helps people who have been in care.
Adam Pearson, Chairman of the Stadium Management Company, commented. "This brings great prestige to the city because it's a huge charity and the dinner is for businesses across the north-east."
Richard Jackson, who chairs the trust's fund-raising expansion forum for Yorkshire and the Humber, said it was the charity’s first fundraising dinner in the region. “The tables are selling very rapidly to companies but, if anybody was particularly keen to come to hear His Royal Highness, we would be pleased to hear from them."
Anyone who would like to book a place, or make a donation, should call Rachel Schofield on (01977) 698018.
