Taylor rallies England support
Hull City A.F.C manager Peter Taylor and defender Andy Dawson are urging Hull’s football fans to show their support for England’s Under 21 stars when tickets for the forthcoming international against Holland go on general sale today (Friday 30th January 2004).
The Kingston Communications Stadium will play host to the finest young talent from England and Holland on Tuesday 17th February 2004, kick off 8.00pm, as David Platt’s young guns fire back in to action for the first time this year.
Former England U21 manager Peter Taylor said. "I'm delighted that the KC Stadium has attracted another high-profile game such as this and it'll be a special occasion.
"My mother was Dutch so I've always had a soft spot for Holland and could have actually played for the Dutch U21’s as it was back in those days.
"They've currently got some tremendous young players with a lot of ability and it'll be a big challenge for the England lads and one that I'm sure they're looking forward to.
"I spoke to the England lads after the game against Serbia and Montenegro last year and they said playing at the KC was an unbelievable experience.
"I'm sure it'll be just as big an event this time around."
Andy Dawson, brother of England U21 international Michael Dawson, added. “It is a fantastic honour for the City of Hull to be staging another England U21 international.
"The Dutch are always very good technically and it should be a great game of football between two very good sides.”
The last time England came to Hull in June 2003 they sealed a 3-2 victory against Serbia and Montenegro in front of a sell-out crowd, and it appears they can expect no less for the visit of Holland. Demand is already very high for this fixture and Hull City A.F.C are urging fans to book early to avoid disappointment.
Tickets go on general sale from 9.00am today (Friday 30th January). Tickets can be purchased from the ticket hotline or from the KC Stadium Ticket Office.
