Tigers’ fan Elaine Clubley, from Skeffling, near Driffield, was the winner of the very first KC Mobile Man of the Match vote, which was piloted at Hull City’s home match against Scunthorpe United earlier this month.
Mrs. Clubley sent in her vote for striker Ben Burgess, who received the highest amount of nominations, and was speechless when told she had won a brand new Nokia 2100 mobile phone - and the opportunity to present Ben with his man of the match award. “I was over the moon to hear I had won! I was just amazed and after the call I rushed to tell my husband, but I literally couldn’t speak!
“After voting for Ben, I hadn’t given it another thought. It was certainly a shock, but a very nice one!”
The Club invited Elaine and husband Derek along to the Tigers’ recent home game against Leyton Orient, where she presented a bottle of champagne to Ben in the home team dressing room before the match. “Ben is one of my favourite players and a real gentleman,” said Elaine. “It
was great to present the award to him and to see into the Tigers’ changing room on a match day. We had a really lovely evening and I certainly won’t forget this for a long time.”
Indeed Ben Burgess made it two games out of two when he scooped the KC Mobile Man of the Match award following the Tigers 3-0 victory against Leyton Orient.
Helen Marsden of East Hull was the lucky supporter picked at random from all the people who voted and will present Ben with his man of the match award before Saturday’s game against Rochdale. Helen also wins a brand new Nokia 2100 mobile phone and two tickets to the game.
