British groups Proud Mary and Skecher have been confirmed to perform ahead of Canadian rock superstar Bryan Adams, when he takes to the stage at the Kingston Communications Stadium on Saturday 26th June 2004.
Skecher, who hail from St.Helens, have been performing together for three years and are due to release their first EP shortly. Their music is an English version of the American pop/punk sound made popular by North American bands Blink 182 and Sum 41.
The 4-piece have strong support in their local area, but are starting to reach out to the rest of the country too, making appearances at top London venues The Underworld and Barfly, as well as Dublin Castle.
Proud Mary’s sound takes the audience on a musical journey through Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas and California.
The Manchester band took their lead from southern swamp rockers Credence Clearwater Revival, and their music, whilst still fresh, has its roots embedded in the tradition of blues-rock adapted by such luminaries as Neil Young and Bob Dylan.
Their debut album, produced by Noel Gallagher, won plaudits for its country-rock influenced tunes, and led to major support slots on tours for Oasis, Paul Weller and The Stereophonics. Their second album ‘Love & Light’ is Americana-rock at its finest and is due for release next month.
Gates open at 5.00pm, with the first act expected on stage at 6.00pm (all timings subject to change).
Remaining tickets for the concert are available in person from the KC Stadium Ticket Office, or by.
