Neil Diamond to Play The KC!

One of the most successful and prolific singer songwriters of the past four decades is coming to the Kingston Communications Stadium.

Neil Diamond will bring his brand new breath-taking concert experience to the KC Stadium on Sunday 22nd May 2005, as part of his first world tour in 3 years.

Diamond’s track record is outstanding - almost 60 hits in the US, more than 30 chart albums and status as one of the Top 20 most successful artists ever in the US.  His success in the UK is comparable, with 26 chart albums and a vast and loyal fanbase.

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1941, Diamond became a full-time songwriter in the 60’s and within 12 months of his very first recording session with Bang Records in 1966, he had penned ‘I'm A Believer’ for the Monkees, scoring his first number one record as a writer.

Less than three years later he released his biggest record of the early years, and still one of his most memorable hits, ‘Sweet Caroline’, followed in the first few years of the seventies by further number ones ‘Cracklin' Rosie’ and ‘Song Sung Blue’.

Another high point of the decade came in 1978 when his duet with Barbra Streisand ‘You Don't Bring Me Flowers’ clinched the top spot in the US chart.

In 1980, Diamond starred in the remake of movie classic ‘The Jazz Singer’, and also composed and performed the multi-platinum selling soundtrack, which included his classics ‘Love On The Rocks,’ ‘America’ and ‘Hello Again.’

The 90's served to further strengthen the singer-songwriter’s standing as one of his generation's elite performers and indeed Diamond was the top-earning solo artist of the decade, drawing audiences of 4.4 million over the course of 461 shows and grossing nearly $183 million for the 10-year period.

At the turn of the century, the Songwriters' Hall of Fame awarded Diamond a coveted ‘Lifetime Achievement Award,’ making him one of a select few composers to be honored twice by the organisation.

And his reputation as the model singer-songwriter remains to this day.  In August, Diamond broke box-office records when his tour of Australia went on sale, selling out two Melbourne shows within 20 minutes!

Indeed his appearance at the KC Stadium next summer is one of only four exclusive live outdoor UK dates which will also include Woburn Abbey, Ashton Gate Bristol and Portman Road Ipswich.
