Scottish Indie rockers Idlewild have been confirmed to open R.E.M.’s forthcoming show at the Kingston Communications Stadium on 5th July 2005.
Voted the ‘Third Greatest Scottish Band Ever’ by Glasgow’s 'The List' magazine, Idlewild are currently touring the UK to promote their fourth album ‘Warnings/Promises’, which entered the UK charts at number 9 and has already produced the hit ‘Love Steals Us From Loneliness’.
The Edinburgh five-piece, who scored their biggest chart hit to date in 2002 with 'You Held the World In Your Arms', are accustomed to opening for big names, having supported US rockers Pearl Jam and the legendary Rolling Stones in recent years.
Idlewild will be joined by main support act and Brit Award nominees The Zutons for their Hull date ahead of R.E.M. in July.
Tickets to see R.E.M.'s eagerly awaited performance at the KC Stadium are currently on sale via the dedicated ticket hotline number and website www.ticketzone.co.uk or in person from the KC Stadium Ticket Office priced from £35.
