The KC Selected As Venue for Gillette Tri-Nations Series

The Kingston Communications Stadium has again been selected by the Rugby Football League to host the penultimate game of the Gillette Tri-Nations Series.

The huge success of last year’s Gillette Tri-Nations match held at the KC Stadium between Great Britain and New Zealand was a big factor in the RFL’s decision to again invite the £43.5m venue to stage another of its prestigious Rugby League test matches.

Great Britain will return to the KC on Saturday 19th November 2005 to take on Australia (kick-off 6.15pm) for the sixth game of the series.

For the 2005 Tournament the opening two qualifying group games will be staged in the southern hemisphere with Australia playing their home tie against New Zealand in Sydney and the return fixture taking place in Auckland.
All subsequent matches will take place in the UK, with the Loftus Road Stadium in London selected as the venue for Great Britain’s first match against New Zealand seven days later.

Great Britain’s KC date with the Kangaroos will be the penultimate game, ahead of the Grand Final which will be held on the 26th November at the Elland Road Stadium in Leeds.

Commenting on the confirmation of venues for the series, the RFL's Executive Chairman Richard Lewis said.  "We're fully expecting the 2005 Gillette Tri-Nations Tournament to be even better than last year's successful first staging of this brand of international Rugby League.

"We've chosen to stage games within the sport's support centres so that our family audience can readily access games where they can see many of the top players in the world in action.

"Packed houses for last year's Tournament demonstrated that the fans respond positively to international Rugby League and we've chosen venues where the atmospheres developed by big crowds bring the best out of the players."

Adam Pearson, Chairman of the Stadium Management Company, said.  “We are delighted that this key Tri-Nations fixture against Australia is the first game of our new 3-year agreement with the RFL and feel sure that it will be another prestigious sporting event at the KC Stadium.”

Tickets for the 2005 Gillette Tri-Nations Tournament go on sale from the RFL from Monday 18th July. The tickets range in price from £40 to £15 and can be purchased by calling the RFL's Events Hotline .

Tickets will not be available from the KC Stadium until mid-August and further details will be announced in due course.
