Tigers In Chinese Link-Up

The Tigers are set to forge links with the Far East in a tie-up with the Chinese city of Yingkou.

It is a pioneering move for the club and is part of a joint initiative with Premiership duo Everton and Bolton Wanderers.

Lynx International are the company co-ordinating matters and the objectives of the tie-up are to establish sporting, educational and business links with China using the vehicle of football as a lead activity.

It is a long-term strategy and will boost not only the profile of Hull City AFC, but also that of the City of Hull in general.

Steve Bellis of Lynx International commented:

"This is first and foremost about football in particular, to create links between China and parts of the UK with Hull being one of our key areas.

"The Chinese love their football and we've identified an area of the country which is football-mad in the north-east.

"That city is Yingkou which is one of the major port cities in that north-eastern province.

"The idea is to develop relationships between Hull City and the football club in that province.

"But also we want to develop relationships between the City of Hull and Yingkou and on the back of that, create genuine links between the businesses in Hull and the businesses in Yingkou.

"We also want to give Chinese students the opportunity to come and link up with the colleges in Hull.

"This has been a very successful model and currently we are used as one of the role models by the UK Trading and Investment arm because they've seen that football opens doors and we've proved that."

The Vice Mayor of Yingkou City Hao Qinghui has already visited Hull for discussions with the Tigers, the City Council, Hull College and Associated British Ports, the owners of the Port of Hull.

He also toured the KC Stadium and the associated Learning Zone facility and was highly impressed by the range community activities taking place at the stadium complex.

Hull City AFC Chairman Adam Pearson said.  "We have identified a number of exciting opportunities for education and business links which could benefit the City of Hull and will raise the profile of both the city and the football club in the rapidly expanding Chinese market."
