96.9 Viking FM & Hallam FM are giving a band in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire a taste of the big time.
Unsigned bands in the region are battling for a chance to be the opening act for Bon Jovi when their World Tour hits the KC Stadium, Hull on Tuesday 13th June.
The radio stations have been inundated with hundreds of demos from unsigned bands, all ambitious to play a 30 minute set of original music to thousands of rock fans at a packed KC stadium.
Four bands will be short-listed to go head-to-head on 7th June in a Battle of the Bands. A panel of experts, including music industry insiders and radio station bosses, will decide which band joins Bon Jovi on the Hull-leg of their world tour.
Mike Bawden, Managing director of 96.9 Viking FM said: “We’ve received hundreds of entries and the talent is incredibly strong. Bon Jovi are one of America’s most successful exports - this could be one bands big break!”
The KC Stadium is Bon Jovi’s last UK date on their world famous ‘Have A Nice Day’ Tour which will see the band jetting off to venues in Florida, Canada and Philadelphia after their long awaited performance in Hull.
Mark Somers of Viking FM’s Sam & Mark at Breakfast said: “What a massive opportunity for unsigned bands, not only will the winner get to rock in front of thousands of people but supporting one of the biggest bands in the world has got to be good for your CV!”
