England Rugby League have named a 20-man train-on squad to begin preparations for this autumn’s Federation Shield tournament.
The 20 man-squad includes some of the top names from the Engage Super League, and two familiar faces in Hull FC players Ewan Dowes and Lee Radford.
The KC Stadium will host England’s match against Samoa on Sunday 5th November (kick-off 2.45pm).
The full England squad named is: Chris Ashton (Wigan Warriors), Ryan Atkins (Wakefield Wildcats), Ryan Bailey (Leeds Rhinos), Chris Bridge (Warrington Wolves), Kevin Brown (Huddersfield Giants), Andy Coley (Salford City Reds), Eorl Crabtree (Huddersfield Giants), Ewan Dowes (Hull FC), Brett Ferres (Bradford Bulls), Mark Gleeson (Warrington Wolves), Wayne Godwin (Wigan Warriors), Jamie Jones-Buchanan (Leeds Rhinos), Rob Purdham (Harlequins RL), Lee Radford (Hull FC), Luke Robinson (Salford City Reds), Jamie Rooney (Wakefield Wildcats), Nick Scruton (Leeds Rhinos), Lee Smith (Leeds Rhinos), Ben Westwood (Warrington Wolves), Danny Williams (Leeds Rhinos).
The Federation Shield is a new concept and will feature England, Samoa, France and Tonga, all of whom are making preparations for the 2008 World Cup.
The tournament gets underway on October 22nd with a special ‘double-header’ at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium, and two of the fixtures will be staged in France.
